Professor Hossein Sarpoulaki got his BSc. and MSc. degrees in Materials Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST). After graduation from IUST, he pursued his studies at the University of Sheffield where he achieved his PhD degree and received the “Bertold Award” for the best PhD thesis in the department of the materials engineering. Prof. Sarpoulaki has been the faculty member in the department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at IUST since 1990. He has published four books as well as several international scientific papers and has supervised more than 100 students’ theses. Moreover, as a scientist he has worked on several industrial projects in Iran; his research about “substituting Iranian refractories in aluminium industry” was selected as the top research of the year by IMIDRO.
